UK Name Change
An automated deed poll platform, built end to end.
We replaced a manual, email-and-phone process with a Django platform that takes a customer from form to paid, legally-formatted document - delivered by email in minutes, with no one touching it in between.
The Project
UK Name Change needed a platform that could replace their entirely manual deed poll process. Customers had to email back and forth, payments were handled over the phone, and documents were created one at a time in Word.
We built a fully automated system where customers fill in a form, pay securely via Stripe, and receive their legally compliant deed poll document by email - all within minutes, with zero manual intervention.
What We Built
Secure Payments
Legal transactions demand PCI DSS compliance and payment handling that never drops an order or double-charges.
Stripe Checkout with webhook-driven fulfilment, idempotent handlers, and automatic retries - so no card data ever touches our servers and no paid order is ever missed.
PDF Generation
Every deed poll has to be legally formatted with precise layouts and the customer's own details - with zero visual errors.
A ReportLab PDF engine with templated legal layouts and automatic field population, producing pixel-consistent documents across every order.
End-to-End Automation
The whole journey - order, payment, document, delivery - had to run with no one touching it in between.
An event-driven pipeline: the Stripe webhook triggers PDF generation, which triggers email delivery with the document attached - start to finish in under two minutes.
Compliance & Audit
A legal service needs a defensible audit trail and proper data protection on every single transaction.
Timestamped transaction logging, GDPR-compliant data handling, encrypted document storage on AWS S3, and automated backups behind it all.
How It Works
Customer Fills Form
Multi-step form with real-time validation captures all required details for the deed poll document.
Stripe Processes Payment
Secure PCI-compliant checkout. On success, Stripe fires a webhook to our server.
PDF Generated Automatically
Webhook triggers the pipeline - customer data populates the legal template and a PDF is rendered.
Delivered via Email
SendGrid sends a confirmation email with the deed poll PDF attached - all within 2 minutes of payment.
